Off the face-off, Montour slipped behind Montreal’s defense for a breakaway and fired a snap shot over Jakub Dobes’ glove for his fourth point of the game (two goals, two assists). Matty Beniers tied the game with a power-play goal with 2:12 left in the third period, tipping Vince Dunn’s slap shot past Dobes’ glove to force overtime.

Brandon Mountour had the fastest goal in NHL overtime history, scoring his second goal of the game four seconds into overtime to give the Seattle Kraken a 5-4 comeback victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

Seattle center Chandler Stephenson was credited with an assist on that goal after he directed the puck instantly to Montour following the face-off to start the overtime. Without anyone between him and Montreal goalie Jakub Dobes, the 30-year-old Montour took full advantage of the setup, firing a powerful shot that Dobes simply failed to stop.
