BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Police are investigating an early morning armed burglary at a Brooklyn Park residence. The victim told police he invited the suspect, described only as a male, into their residence off North Louisana and 75th avenues at about 3:15 a.m.

Anwar Hussein Mohamed was charged with second-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of his friend, Nebil Ahmed Omer.

According to an alert from the Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a home on the 7500 block of Louisiana Avenue North just after 3:30 a.m. At the scene, a victim stated that they had been robbed and threatened with a knife by a male they had invited into the home.

The warrant was part of an ongoing domestic violence investigation, in which investigators suspected the man was in possession of a known hazardous substance.

Maengun James Lee Randberg was sentenced to 108 months in prison in Hennepin County court on Wednesday. A Brooklyn Center man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for the assault of his four-month-old son, who suffered horrific injuries after being thrown to the ground in 2023.

During their investigation, detectives learned the suspect of the warrant may have been in possession of castor beans, which police say are a known hazardous substance.

The Brooklyn Park Police Department said its SWAT team went to a home on the 6400 block of Zealand Avenue North around 5:30 a.m. to execute a "high-risk search warrant."
