Matt Eberflus has a new job. The Cowboys hired the ex-Bears head coach to be their defensive coordinator on Tuesday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero . Eberflus spent parts of three seasons in Chicago, going 14-32, before being fired in late November after a 4-8 start to the 2024 campaign.

Eberflus, the Bears head coach from 2022 until his firing late in 2024, was a linebackers coach for the Cowboys from 2011-17.

The Dallas Cowboys have officially hired former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus as their new defensive coordinator. The hiring comes after WFAA Cowboys insider Ed Werder broke the news Friday of Eberflus being considered,

Now, it is time for his staff to come together. NFL insider Ed Werder initially reported former Cowboys assistant Matt Eberflus was hired as defensive coordinator. Werder would retract that report later, noting, as Jane Slater did initially, that Eberflus is "held in high regard" for the position, but has not been hired yet.

Matt Eberflus will be Dallas' third defensive coordinator in as many years, with Dan Quinn here in 2022 and Mike Zimmer - who tells us he's retiring - here in 2024.
